The Red Hot Chili Peppers will play their first gig together since taking an extended break in 2008. The band will perform at MusiCares 2010 on January 29th at the Los Angeles Convention Center, alongside such artists as James Taylor, Wilco, Sheryl Crow, Everest and Norah Jones. The show is part of a special tribute to Neil Young, who will be honored for his achievements in both music and philanthropy.

Steven Tyler made a surprise onstage appearance with the Joe Perry Project in New York at the Fillmore in Irving Plaza on Tuesday. The reunion of Aerosmith members Tyler and Perry comes just days after rumors of Tyler leaving the band began spreading. Tyler told the crowd at the show, "I just want New York to know, I am not leaving Aerosmith." Tyler added, "Joe Perry, you are a man of many colors, but I . . . am the rainbow!"

Morrissey brought the UK leg of his current tour to an abrupt halt in Liverpool Saturday when he walked offstage after being hit on the head by a drink thrown from the audience. The former Smiths singer said simply "goodbye" at the Liverpool Echo Arena following the incident, and left the stage in the middle of his second song. He had started with The Smiths classic 'This Charming Man' and was in the middle of 'Black Cloud' when the incident happened.

We may have lost Elvis, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Roy Orbison and most of the Sun Records legends, but Jerry Lee Lewis is still going strong. The 74-year-old musician just released a new EP, Mean Old Man. (How's that for a title?) It includes more high-profile guest stars than songs: Eric Clapton, Slash, Sheryl Crow, Merle Haggard, Kid Rock and Kris Kristofferson appear on the five tracks. The EP is just a taste of Lewis' upcoming album, due next year.

James Taylor & Carole King are going to hit the road together. The tour begins in Australia in March and hits Los Angeles in May. They've only announced seven dates, but promise more will come.

Iggy Pop has confirmed that he will rejoin the Stooges for a tour sometime in 2010.

An Andy Warhol painting called "200 One Dollar Bills" fetched the mega sum at Sotheby's this week. It represented an incredible profit for the seller, who purchased the silkscreen for $385,000 in 1986. Sotheby's had estimated it would sell for $12 million. The 1962 work comes from a period when Warhol began to refine his technique. "It's truly the starting point of pop art," said Sotheby's Alex Rotter. It looks like it should be worth $200, but it sold for a whopping $43.7 million.
