Tech gets grant to add women to faculty

Michigan Technological University has applied for and received a grant to bring more diversity to campus. The nearly half-million-dollar grant is from the National Science Foundation. Its aim is to bring more female students and faculty to Tech. Assistant Provost Donna Michalek says adding women to campus gives female students role models, and also prepares male students should they have women bosses in the future.Michalek says Tech has implemented guidelines in the hiring process for consistency and uses different marketing techniques to attract more women to campus. She thinks it will be a couple of years before results of the program are seen.
