Police arrest fewer for drunk driving UNDATED (wnmu) - Due to law enforcements crackdown on drunk driving, there was a decrease in arrests. Michigan law enforcement officers arrested 770 motorists for drunk driving and cited 538 during the conclusion of Labor Day. At the same time last year officers made 1,002 arrests and cited 513. The state focused on drunk driving from August 15th to September 1st with more than 230 law enforcement agencies in 55 counties. Preliminary reports showed 6 traffic fatalities during Labor Day weekend, 2 of which involved alcohol, however last year there were 12 traffic fatalities, 2 of which involved alcohol. © Copyright 2009, wnmu
