League of Women Voters becomes official MARQUETTE, MI (wnmu) - The Marquette League of Women Voters has been officially recognized as a unit of the League of Women Voters of Michigan. The league was approved at its August meeting where they were acknowledged for the significant organizational steps Marquette leaders had taken to establish a League of Women Voters in the Marquette area. The League of Women Voters was established in 1920 and is a nonpartisan group. The organization encourages citizen participation in government. For more information on the league go to www.lwvmi.org.
