Road project rejected
(2008-09-16)
(wnmu) - Some Marquette residents are opposing the costs of paving certain roads in the area. Residents on White Street, Harlow Street, and Wilkinson Avenue would like to see their streets paved, but not at the prices projected by city officials. Judy Akkala is the City Manager of Marquette. She says certain compromises must be made before they can make a decision. The costs of paving the streets would range from anywhere between $3,000 and $16,000. The commission was in agreement with residents and the project was rejected with a 6 to 1 vote. The next step in the process will be to accomplish the project in an affordable amount for residents.
