Stupak supports drilling bill
The bill would open all areas beyond 100 miles offshore to oil and gas drilling. Between 50 and 100 miles offshore, federal restrictions would only be removed if a state approved the move. A ban on drilling in and under the Great Lakes would remain in place.
Stupak says if approved, the bill would end America's dependence on foreign oil, promote alternative energy production, and create millions of jobs.
