Water Plant looks at upgrades
(2008-09-11)
(wnmu) - The water plant in Manistique is looking at several upgrades in the upcoming years. Cory Barr is the Water and Waste Superintendent for the Manistique Plant. He says upgrades will include; improvement of the chemical feed system, installation of new chemical feed systems, and adding ultra violet lights. Barr says the upgrades will greatly benefit the community. With the new upgrades, the community will continue with safe drinking water for the next 30 to 40 years. Barr says the plant will be receiving $1,000,000 in federal funds by the United States Department of Agriculture. He says they hope to have upgrades done by 2010. Barr adds that this Saturday there will be an open house from 12pm to 4pm for the public to view the plant and its facilities.
