CCI urges shareholders to negate company's effort at controlling interest
Dale Hemmila is CCI's District Manager of Public Affairs in Ishpeming. He says Cliffs officials think increasing Harbinger's stake is a bad idea for the company, which intends to merge in the coming months with Alpha Natural Resources, since a 30-percent share would give Harbinger control over strategic decisions.
CCI has sent a letter to its shareholders asking them to vote against Harbinger's proposal, and is holding a special shareholder's meeting October 3rd. Hemmila says both companies have sent out proxy statements in advance.
