(2008-09-08)
(wnmu) - The 27th Annual Law Enforcement Torch Run across Michigan is now underway. The 750-mile trek from Copper Harbor to downstate Sterling Heights began at noon Monday. Three teams of six each will run 24 hours a day for five days to raise funds for Special Olympics Michigan. Members come from the Michigan State Police, Michigan Department of Corrections, and the Fraternal Order of Police. The teams are scheduled to arrive in Sterling Heights Friday around 6 p.m.

In the past 27 years the Law Enforcement Torch Run has raised more than $200 million for Special Olympics athletes.
