Stupak hopes to revise Hatch Act
(2008-09-09)
(wnmu) - Congressman Bart Stupak wants to modernize the Hatch Act. The act was first introduced by Stupak. Lately however, there has been confusion on how the act should be interpreted. Under the current law, no one who works for an office with connections to federally funded programs can run for partisan office. Stupak says he wants to clarify that law. He has requested a hearing to review the act. A House Oversight and Government Reform Committee subcommittee will be holding a legislative hearing at 2pm on Thursday.
