MARQUETTE COUNTY, MI
(wnmu) -
Marquette County Sheriff Mike Lovelace is reminding motorists to drive more cautiously with the start of the new school year. Lovelace says drivers often are not focusing on the road and police have pulled people over for such things as brushing their teeth while driving, changing clothes in the car while driving, and recently there was a report of someone playing the guitar while driving down the highway. Lovelace says in order to help protect children, they conduct assemblies during the school year to educate kids on bus safety. Lovelace says parents can also help prepare their children for school by talking to them about appropriate behavior at the bus stop and on the bus. Lovelace says even being aware of clothing such as book bags, drawstrings on coats, or scarves that could get caught in bus doors or car doors could prevent serious accidents. © Copyright 2009, wnmu
