NMU hosts Native American Education conference

Northern Michigan University is hosting the 12th annual Upper Peninsula Indian Education Conference. The conference, which is called Engaging American Indian Youth in the classroom and beyond focuses on working with educators on using curriculum to engage all students but especially Native American students. April Lindala is the Director for Native American Studies at NMU. She says the ultimate goal of the conference is to find the best curriculum for students and teachers. Lindala adds that the key-note speaker will be D.J. Eagle Bear Vanas who is an internationally acclaimed motivational storyteller and the author of "The Tiny Warrior-A Path to Personal Discovery and Achievement. The conference will take place Monday in the Great Lakes Room of the University Center through-out the day. © Copyright 2009, wnmu
