The MDA offers safety tips for school lunches

(wnmu) - The Michigan Department of Agriculture is reminding parents about food safety when packing lunches for school. The MDA is offering tips to parents for packing safe lunches. Guidelines include; put juice boxes or water bottles in the freezer over night and then packing them next to the child's sandwich, which keep the sandwich from getting too warm as well as keeping the drink cold, freezing sandwiches overnight will be thawed by lunchtime, use a thermos to keep milk or juice cold, remind children to keep their lunches in the coolest places possible, and always keep it clean by showing kids how to wash their hands before eating.
