Sault Tribe receives grant
(2008-08-26)
(wnmu) - The Sault St.Marie tribe has been awarded a grant. The grant, which was given by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, totals $500,000 and was given for the tribe's Sault Tribe Alive Youth (STAY) project, which is directed at suicide prevention. The first step for the tribe will be to identify a coalition of stakeholders as well as establishing a full-time project manager. The STAY project's goals are to develop plans to help prevent suicide among youth, especially Native American youth. The project is working alongside the national program called Suicide Prevention for Michigan. © Copyright 2013, wnmu
