ESCANABA, MI
(wnmu) -
Marinas are showing a decrease in boaters for the 2008 summer season. Escanaba Municipal Marina reports show that the number of boaters is at its lowest in 16 years. Dick Solka is the Harbormaster at the Escanaba Municipal Marnia. He says there were certain factors that played a roll in the decline in boaters such as; cold and windy weather that made boating very difficult. Solka says another reason for decline is the higher fuel costs, however he says he is not too concerned with gas prices and does not believe it will endanger business for the marina. The boating season begins in May and usually winds down in mid-October. © Copyright 2013, wnmu
