The One Book, One Community announced new book
(2008-08-22)
(wnmu) - The "One Book, One Community" program is working to join Marquette County and Northern Michigan University through one book. The program was modeled after other national universities and started in January of 2006. Sue Szczepanski is an instructor in the School of Education at NMU as well as chair of the One Book, One Community committee. She says the program helps connect people and has had a very positive impact. The book this year is called "The Shadow of the Wind" and is the story of a young boy living in Barcelona who is taken to a secret book store. The book was written by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. Szczepanski says the committee hopes to have the author visit to discuss his book.
