Plans for Houghton's streetscape project are coming together. The project will include Franklin Avenue to the bridge and will include new sidewalks, light-posts, and new water and sewer systems. Scott MacInnes is the City Manager for Houghton. He says the project is part of a downtown blueprint plan that hopes to attract more people to the area. MacInnes says the funding is coming from several sources including Michigan State Housing Development, and the Michigan Department of Transportation Enhancement Program. He adds that final designs will be done after the 1st of the year and construction will begin in April or May and complete in mid-October. © Copyright 2013, wnmu
