Ishpeming High School receives large fund

(wnmu) - The Ishpeming Schools Board of Education has announced the receipt of a large scholarship fund. The estate of Patricia Potter has directed $978,000 to the Ishpeming schools for scholarships for Ishpeming high school seniors. Students receiving the Pat Potter Fund scholarships in the amount of $1,750 are Nicole Kulju, Erica Merrill, Dana Perry, Mary Piereson, Rachel Piereson, and Maigen Pruett. The scholarships are preferably given to students entering the medical field.
Potter was a graduate of Ishpeming high school in 1946 and later graduated from the Milwaukee Downer College. In 1951 she received her certification as an occupational therapist which she worked as for 37 years. Later on she moved to Baltimore, Maryland where she worked as a Department Head at the Cerebral Palsy Institute and the John Hopkins University Hospital.
