MGHS releases strategic plan
(2008-07-30)
(wnmu) - Officials with Marquette General Health System have announced the next stage in revamping operations. President and CEO Gary Muller announced Tuesday strategic priorities for the next three years. The hospital was $10 million in the red last year, and officials implemented an early retirement program and job reassignments to stem the loss.

Muller says future plans include enhancing the hospital's status as a preferred regional referral center for the Upper Great Lakes region; establishing more partnerships with regional hospitals; and strengthening patient service and satisfaction. Officials also hope to generate around $9 million this year through controlling physician costs, reducing capital expenses, and attracting more patients.

Muller hopes to be $19 million in the black next fiscal year, since expenses associated with 123 early retirements will be off the books. He says no layoffs are planned.
