A Houghton County official says recent outages in 911 service are due to human error. Jack Dueweke is the County's Emergency Measures Director. He says the outages were most likely caused by fiber-optic lines being cut during construction in the area.Houghton County is served by Negaunee's 911 Dispatch Service. Residents affected by the interruptions were directed to contact their local law enforcement agencies.
Dueweke says the 911 system is state-of-the-art, and doesn't need to be updated any time soon.
