Superior Watershed Partnership helps reduce carbon emissions
(2008-07-09)
(wnmu) - The Superior Watershed Partnership says it's making a difference in the environment. Membership Coordinator Natasha Koss says an April effort to reduce energy consumption in area homes netted a three-million-pound reduction in carbon emissions.

Koss says a recent $150,000 grant from the Michigan Public Service Commission will help residents further cut down their energy use. The money will be used to distribute about 35,000 compact fluorescent light bulbs to households across the U.P. She says the money will also be used to sponsor a visit by polar explorer Will Steger in October.
