NMU building evacuated
(2008-07-01)
(wnmu) - A Northern Michigan University building has been evacuated due to a hazardous material spill. Cohodas Hall will be closed until 2:00 p.m. Tuesday. Officials say a battery in one of the building's systems has leaked acid, and they want to make sure it's cleaned up before fumes can infiltrate the ventilation system. Employees are being urged to work from home or from another location on campus.

At 2:00 p.m. employees are asked to report to the west entrance of Cohodas, or to call Public Safety first to determine building accessibility.
