Marquette Clerk says keep signs out of right-of-way
Anyone who places a sign illegally will be given a warning to remove it. If more than one sign is confiscated for one candidate, the city will issue a $50 fine. Signs can be placed up to 45 days before an election, and must be removed within five days afterward.

The Marquette City Clerk is reminding residents about correct election sign placement. Although political signs are allowed in the city, they cannot be put in the public right-of-way. That includes the street and an area up to the property line, about 15 feet from the curb. Sidewalks, utility poles, and grassy areas are all usually located in the right-of-way.Anyone who places a sign illegally will be given a warning to remove it. If more than one sign is confiscated for one candidate, the city will issue a $50 fine. Signs can be placed up to 45 days before an election, and must be removed within five days afterward.
