MAPS considers moving Vandenboom students
They include reassigning Vandenboom K-3 students to Sandy Knoll and Superior Hills elementary schools beginning with the 2009-2010 school year, finding another educational use for the Vandenboom building, and having one principal and one assistant principal oversee both Cherry Creek Elementary and Vandenboom for the 2008-2009 school year.
The Marquette Area Public Schools Board of Education will consider the proposals at a June 4 work session at Vandenboom. The meeting begins at 7:00 p.m., and is open to the public.

The Marquette Area Public Schools administration wants to move students at Vandenboom Elementary School elsewhere in the district. MAPS Superintendent Jon Hartwig says to save on costs in light of declining enrollment and less state money, officials have come up with three recommendations. They include reassigning Vandenboom K-3 students to Sandy Knoll and Superior Hills elementary schools beginning with the 2009-2010 school year, finding another educational use for the Vandenboom building, and having one principal and one assistant principal oversee both Cherry Creek Elementary and Vandenboom for the 2008-2009 school year.
