Michigan Technological University is the only Michigan school that will participate in an international car redesign challenge. EcoCAR: the NeXt Challenge is a sequel to the four-year Challenge X competition. Teams will re-engineer a Saturn Vue, using clean-vehicle technologies to improve fuel economy and decrease emissions while retaining performance. The contest is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, General Motors Corporation, and Natural Resources Canada, who chose 17 teams from 44 proposals from colleges and universities across Canada and the U.S.
The competition begins this fall.
