An Ishpeming woman has been arrested for embezzling from an area medical office. Marquette Police say Sandra Jean Mager, 59, is charged with one count of embezzling more than $50,000 but less than $100,000 and one count of embezzling $20,000 or more but less than $50,000. The charges stem from an investigation into a complaint by Surgical Associates in Marquette, where Mager had been employed. She had worked there for 25 years, most recently as office manager. Accounting discrepancies were discovered after she left her job earlier this year.
Mager was released from the Marquette County Jail on a $1,000 bond. The charges are punishable by up to 25 years in prison and a $40,000 fine.
