Michigan libraries oppose state aid proposal
(2008-03-17)
(wnmu) - A recent state proposal to change state funding for public libraries may cause harm. Libraries across the state of Michigan are passing resolutions in disagreement with the proposal. Jim Curtis is the Director of the Portage Lake District Library in Houghton. He says the new funding would be damaging to public libraries and they hope the state reconsiders. Curtis says under the proposed model, state funding would range over three years. He says the state aid would make serving their patrons much more difficult.
