(2008-02-18)
MANISTIQUE, MI
(wnmu) -
An Illinois man is hospitalized, following a snowmobile accident in Schoolcraft County. Troopers from the Manistique post say the incident occurred Saturday around 3:25 a.m. near Manistique. Officials say Ronald Haug, 50, of Elk Grove was traveling at a high rate of speed when his snowmobile hit some trees. A passing vehicle saw Haug's snowmobile on fire and alerted police. Haug was taken to Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital, then transferred to Marquette General Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Officials believe alcohol and speed to be factors in the accident, which remains under investigation.
