An Ironwood woman has been arrested for smuggling drugs into a Gogebic County prison. Troopers from the Wakefield post say Laura Burns, 35, was arrested January 31 at the Ojibway Correctional Facility. She's charged with Bringing Contraband into a Prison and Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Deliver. Burns was at the facility on the pretext of visiting an inmate. A search warrant was obtained for her vehicle, and a quantity of suspected marijuana was found. Officers from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team have begun forfeiture proceedings on the vehicle. The incident remains under investigation. © Copyright 2013, wnmu
