A preliminary exam is scheduled for an Ishpeming man accused of assault. City Police say the incident occurred Sunday around 2:00 a.m. on the 200 block of South First Street. Police were dispatched to a local bar to meet with the victim, who had gone there seeking refuge. Investigation revealed the 19-year-old woman had been beaten and stabbed. Officers arrested Andrew Tippett, 21, who is charged with Assault with the Intent to do Great Bodily Harm less than Murder and Felonious Assault. He remains lodged in the Marquette County Jail on $75,000 cash bond. A preliminary hearing is set for February 15 in Marquette District Court.
