An accidental leak of personal information on the internet could have affected more than twice as many UW Madison employees as previously reported. University spokesman Brian Rust says the social security-based campus I.D. numbers of 529 employees might have been posted on a campus web site over the course of a year. He says the university decided to notify on the 205 employees whose information was most likely seen on the site. Rust says it was less likely the information of the additional 324 employees was seen even though the university can't be certain. The personal information was inadvertently posted online by a database that tracked purchases from a campus computer shop.
