Library nears goal of one million pennies collected
(2008-02-01)
(wnmu) - The Peter White Public Library has been working on collecting 1 million pennies. The campaign started in 2001 as part of a Go Figure traveling math exhibit. Programming and Promotion Specialist at the library, Margaret Boyle, said the library thought it would be an interesting project for both the library and youth. She adds that the money will go towards support for children's benefits. Boyle adds that on Sunday, February 10th, the library will be hosting a Lincoln birthday/love my library penny party to celebrate President Lincoln's 199th birthday. The party will begin at 2pm and end at 4pm. The library reminds all to bring pennies to play coin games and activities. Donated coins will go toward the penny fund.
