MAPS teachers ratify contract
Under the new agreement, teacher salaries are projected to increase more than $391,000 in the current school year, and more than $436,000 for 2008-2009. The contract is retroactive to July of 2007.

Members of the Marquette Area Education Association have ratified a new contract. The agreement includes salary increases of 3%, 3%, and 2%, respectively, over the next three years. And for the first time teachers will contribute to the costs of their health care plans. The average individual contribution to health costs this year will be about $578.00.
