Gladstone teachers gauge strike possibility
Walker says after results of the survey are shared with teachers and the negotiations team, they'll send a report to Lansing. She says the MEA will then evaluate Gladstone's readiness for a work stoppage, or suggest another option.

Teachers with the Gladstone School District are wondering if they'll go on strike. The 89 teachers have been working without a contract since June 30th, and Gladstone Education Association officials say little or no movement has been made toward an agreement. The Michigan Education Association placed the district on its Critical List last month, and sent six staff members to the area to conduct a community survey. Sandra Walker is an MEA Uniserv Director in Escanaba. she says the survey aimed to gauge residents' feelings about teachers and administration, positive and negative.Walker says after results of the survey are shared with teachers and the negotiations team, they'll send a report to Lansing. She says the MEA will then evaluate Gladstone's readiness for a work stoppage, or suggest another option.
