Kevin Boyle, a Northern alumnus and attorney will be the keynote speaker at Northern's winter commencement ceremony. Boyle graduated from NMU in 1981 with a bachelor's degree in speech-communications. He went on from there to earn his juris doctorate from Pepperdine University of Law in 1984 and worked in a law firm in Washington D.C. before joining Lathan & Watkins L.L.P. as an associate in 1987. He maintains ties to the university as vice president of the NMU foundation. In addition to being the commencement speaker, Boyle will also be receiving an honorary doctorate of mass communications degree. NMU's commencement exercises will begin at 10:30am in the Superior Dome and will be broadcasted live on WNMU-TV.
