The Department of Natural Resources reminds hunters to think safety first during the upcoming firearm deer season. In order to enjoy hunting the DNR would like to remind both visitors and residents about some of the safety rules before going afield for the season. All hunters must wear hunter orange garments that are visible from all sides, should be sure of their target and the area around it, treat every firearm as if it were loaded, keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot, don't take any chances with loaded firearms, know where your hunting partners are at all times, and remember it is illegal to drink alcohol or use intoxicating drugs before or while hunting. Hunters using tree-stands or other raised platforms should wear a harness while climbing. © Copyright 2013, wnmu
