The city of Marquette is still waiting to see what will happen to the old orphanage building. City Planner and Zoning Administrator Dennis Stachewicz says the building has stood vacant and abandoned for several years. He says despite several assurances, the man who owns the orphanage has yet to do anything with the building, which is slowly falling apart. Stachewicz says the city is moving forward with enforcement efforts to make the old building safer. He notes the owner hasn't yet responded to requests to take care of the orphanage, even though citations and fines have been issued.
