About 165 National Guard soldiers from Kingsford are home from Iraq. Following a 14-month tour of duty, the 46th Military Police Company arrived at K.I. Sawyer International Airport Sunday morning. After a brief ceremony in the main terminal, buses took the soldiers to the Kingsford Armory for a welcome there. The company's mission was to train Iraqi police and security forces to conduct independent operations. The Kingsford unit consists of local soldiers, as well as personnel from the downstate communities of Owosso, Pontiac, and Taylor.
