The Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team has completed a weeklong HEMP operation, seizing hundreds of plants in the process. In conjunction with Army National Guard helicopters, UPSET found more than 600 pot plants this past week in seven counties of the twelve counties it serves. More than 1,000 plants were uncovered this summer. Drug charges are pending against nearly a dozen people as a result of the investigations. Detectives say because of very dry conditions in the U.P. this year, marijuana growers had problems with their crops, as well.
