MARQUETTE COUNTY, MI
(wnmu) -
Marquette County could lose a circuit judge, if the state has its way. In its bi-annual Judicial Resources Recommendation, the State Court Administrator has targeted the county for reduction of one judge when a vacancy next occurs. That's likely to be January 1, 2009. The Marquette County Board, Bar Association, and Prosecutor say the population center of the Upper Peninsula would be best served by two circuit court judges. However, should the position be cut, the 25th Judicial Circuit says the remaining judges will do their utmost to deliver high-quality services.Allocation of judges throughout the state is ultimately a legislative decision.
