NMU approves 9.25% tuition hike
(2007-07-23)
(wnmu) - It will cost more to attend Northern Michigan University this coming school year. The Board of Trustees Friday unanimously approved a 9.25 percent tuition increase. That means full-time undergraduates will pay $284 more per semester. The annual cost for michigan residents will be $6,709, while non-residents will pay $10,645. NMU officials say the increase will preserve Northern's rank as the second-most affordable university in the state.

The tuition model was developed around a $4.2 million delayed payment from the state. If the payment is not received, NMU officials say they'll have to eliminate initiatives, reduce staffing, programming, and maintenance, and consider mid-year tuition and fee hikes.
