HANCOCK, MI
(wnmu) -
The city of Hancock has raised its water rates. Retroactive to May 1, it will cost residents $5.75 per 1,000 gallons of metered water. That's up 37 percent from $4.20. City Manager Glenn Anderson says the rate hike is needed to fund a $3.5 million-dollar water improvement project. It includes replacing fire hydrants and extending a water main across Portage Lake. Anderson says construction of the project could begin next summer. © Copyright 2013, wnmu
