Governor Jennifer M. Granholm has declared June Youth Employment Month in Michigan. The purpose of the proclamation is to help teens find legal and safe job opportunities. More than 314,000 teenagers are expected to search for employment this summer, a small increase from last year. Granholm is encouraging teens to research the job market and learn their rights. The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration has began a Young Worker Initiative to provide information about the workforce to teens. Brochures and youth material can be found at www.michigan.gov/miosha.
