MARQUETTE, MI
(wnmu) -
Northern Michigan University is holding its own, financially speaking. That's according to NMU President Dr. Les Wong. He says Governor Granholm made it clear that higher education is the way for Michigan to dig out of its budget deficit. Wong says he's glad that at least this year, Northern isn't on the chopping block. Wong says Northern officials are assessing the possibility of getting 11 payments from the state this fiscal year, instead of the normal 12. He notes the university would then get 13 payments the next year. Wong adds NMU is also looking at ways to generate revenue and boost student retention. © Copyright 2013, wnmu
