Allen introduces bill to give tax credit for food donations
(2007-02-08)
(wnmu) - Legislation that would grant tax credits to people donating food to the needy was introduced into the Senate last week. Senator Jason Allen, who sponsored the bill, says donations to food banks should be treated the same as donations to other charities. Currently, taxpayers can only receive credit for cash contributions to homeless shelters, food banks and food kitchens. The bill would expand the credit to include the value of donated food items. The Senate Committee on Finance is reviewing the legislation. © Copyright 2013, wnmu
