Sault Tribe to hold secretarial election
(2007-01-22)
(wnmu) - The Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians will hold a special election on a proposed constitutional amendment that would prevent tribal employees from also serving as an elected official. Thirty-percent of eligible voters must approve the amendment for it to pass. It requires any newly elected official to resign his or her position in the tribe, lest he or she be barred from taking office. The tribe has until April 5th to conduct the election. © Copyright 2013, wnmu
