Catholic Charities to close Ironwood office
(2007-01-22)
(wnmu) - Catholic Charities of the Upper Peninsula has decided to close its Ironwood office. Executive Director Larry Ziomkowski says the office can no longer afford to offer its services because fewer clients have health insurance to pay for their care. He says the area's economic depression is to blame for the situation, and notes similar services just aren't available to help those in need. Along with mental health services, the office provides marriage and pregnancy counseling and help for gambling addiction. Ziomkowski says the Ironwood office will close its doors at the end of February. No other offices are slated for closure at this time.
