An Illinois man was slightly injured in a snowmobile accident in Negaunee Township. The Marquette County Sheriff's Department says the incident occurred Thursday around 10:30 a.m. on Trail #8, just south of County Road 492. James Vaupel, 28, of Belvidere was eastbound when he hit a dip in the trail and lost control of the machine. He was ejected from the sled, which flipped over. Vaupel was taken to Marquette General Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Alcohol was not a factor in the accident.Deputies are reminding snowmobilers that portions of area trail systems still may not be completely covered by snow, and riders should use extra caution.
