U.P. fire departments receive federal funds
(2007-01-03)
WASHINGTON
(wnmu) -
The Department of Homeland Security has awarded $73,000 to two Upper Peninsula fire departments. Bootjack Fire and Rescue in Lake Linden will use $57,000 to help cover the cost of general and personal protective equipment, and Germfask Volunteer Fire Department will use its $16,000 for equipment purchases. U.S. Congressman Bart Stupak applauded the move, saying the federal government needs to remain an active partner with local public safety.
