Man pleads no contest in hit and run
(2010-02-09)
(wnmu) - A Midland County man accused of driving into a group of people walking along an Upper Peninsula road, killing 3 women, has pleaded no contest to 3 counts of Negligent Homicide. Mackinac County prosecutor Fred Feleppa also says 28-year-old Dustan L.Bowen pleaded guilty Friday to 3 counts of failing to stop at the scene of an accident when at fault resulting in death. The Sanford man could be sentenced to more than 22-years in prison at a March 18th hearing. Feleppa says Bowen admitted responsibility for the July 25th crash that killed 26-year-old Jonel Hoogterp and 31-year-old Julie Hatch, both of Durham, North Carolina, and 24-year-old Sara Dobbrastine of Kent City. Police say they were among 10 people walking along a road while gathered for a family reunion. © Copyright 2012, wnmu
